We use www.sermon.net for our podcast. For audio it is FREE.
They have all the stuff you need to make a podcast, for FREE.

But I use wavepad to edit our audio files before I upload to www.sermon.net/cagkissimmee

I use sermon.net's Media Converter to join all the trax together from our CD of the sermon that we make. Then edit it with wavepad. I normalize the file, andd Automatic Gain Control to the file, and I also Amplify the file. Then save it as a mp3
This makes it easer for people to listen to, the volume is not all over the place.

I have used Audacity it works well also, and it's FREE

This is a good article. If you have a budget designated for it you can launch your pod-cast off any server that allows you to customize your page. iPod podcasts are largely available for iPods through the Apple iTunes system. Most internet capable phones can be supported via a customized web page for cell phones.
However, if you budget is near zip, still most software such as Audacity for multi-track sound processing is free. If you want to host your own, Apache servers commanding over 53% of internet web servers also is free. http://news.netcraft.com/archives/web_server_survey.html
Large bandwidth internet connections? Not free.

Pop Filters, normalization, hum filters, dynamic compression, time compression/expansion and mp3 encoding is also available for Audacity, free. Dozens of ready to roll free linux OS are also free for non-profit use.
All you really need is a 800Mhz minimum or higher computer with 500MB RAM and a moderately informed computer novice to put it together. MP3 encoding is generally a low quality style format for audiophiles anyway.
